I've ridden shortboards since '80. only since Nov 2004 have I ridden mats.

i use Voit Duckfeet, and after I catch a wave adn kick back out to the lineup, it just feels like i'm going so * slow! Frustrates me.

how about you who ride kneeboards adn flexspoons - how does yr speed compare to someone on a surfboard? (not incl longboards) what about compared to a mat?

Old post but I have 2 cents.

I used un-altered UDeeTs (that's UDT's remade by Dr. Deets) and I found my sprint was as fast as a shortboarder, if not faster. BUT, the speed I could sustain (paddling back out) was slower.

Missed this thread first time around. Yeah, I feel 100 years old/slow kicking mat back out. Loggers back paddle me and rip me for waves on a regular basis. I try to just enjoy the scenery and ride what I can get. Occasionally I get * and run over someone who rips me off. Head butt to the back of the leg etc. Bad manners I know but sometimes ya gotta let out some steam or blow. Currently building a 5'3" fish in garage but already dreaming of a 7' "funboard".
